President’s Bio

Dr. Quincy C. Moore III, Ph.D., serves as Director of the Prairie View A&M University Honors Program and a tenured Professor in the Department of Biology in the Marvin D. and June Samuel Brailsford College of Arts and Sciences.
 He earned his B.S. from Jackson State University, M.S. from Auburn University, and Ph.D. from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He has promoted an environment conducive to student advancement, growth, creativity, outreach, and discovery. He extensively works in student activities such as advisement, recruitment, retention, inquiry-based learning, study abroad student learning, infusion of technology in student learning, internal and externally funded research, both internal and external service activities, and project administration. During his tenure at PVAMU, he taught undergraduate and graduate courses, served as a research mentor, participated in assessment initiatives, managed grants, supervised student workers, and served on university, departmental, and professional society committees.
 His dedication to mentoring and my strength in the classroom have resulted in several teaching awards, including Dr. Wright’s President’s Faculty Teaching Award, five Chancellor’s Teaching Excellence Awards, and the Faculty of the Year Awards in the Department of Biology. In 2019, along with nine other U.S. higher education administrators, he participated in the U.S. Embassy in Mexico’s 2019 Study Abroad Development Tour. He has received several awards from PVAMU, including the 2020 Global Engagement Faculty Award, the 2023 Teamwork Award, and the 2024 Faculty Academic Advising Award. He is committed to helping students prepare for global leadership and their post-graduation goals. 
 To summarize, Dr. Moore strives to impact as many students on the journey as possible by improving education and training. He is a promoter of students reading about history and also making history.
